A breakdown of the service offerings provided through Rocket Tax
Services Offered
Rocket Tax provides services for clients for their filing needs for:
Personal Returns (1040)
Schedule C for Self-Employed individuals
Business Returns (Form 1120, 1120S, 1065, or 990)
Business & Personal
Estates and Trust (1041)
Write-Up Services (Bookkeeping Cleanup)
If you pick up a job where the client is requesting deliverables that don't coincide with their service package, you can contact Taxfyle Support to process their update request. For example, if you have a job for a Form 1120S but the client requests for you to prepare their personal return as well, this will need to be relayed to the Taxfyle Customer Success Team so it can be processed and approved on the Rocket Tax side. Do not work on any additional work not in the job specs until confirmation of payment is made.
Extensions
If a client requests an extension, or when it is getting closer to the extension deadline, you are expected to file a courtesy extension on the client's behalf to make sure they don't incur any late filing penalties.
Once the client's extension has been filed and proof of acceptances (for both federal and state) are uploaded to their job, please upload these documents under the "Extension Confirmation" document tag.
If the client needs to have their extension mailed in, you are expected to use certified mail (to help with expediting and tracking). Then be sure to upload the mailing receipt to the job for the client's records (you can reach out to Taxfyle to update your payout to cover the cost of postage if necessary). Or you can provide the client with detailed instructions for them to mail it in themselves.
Niche Service Requests
If a niche service request (outside the scope of a job) is requested by the client, let them know in the message feed that you'll need to confirm with the Rocket Tax team before committing to assist. This is recommended to verify if the client can be accommodated within Rocket Tax for their request or if they'll need to be referred to the Taxfyle workspace to complete the service (as only certain requests can be serviced through Rocket Tax).
Niche service requests can range from business valuations, tax planning, 1099 prep, comfort letters to bank/lender for a loan, and more.
